Event description

Description

A discussion of the Antonine Plague (that killed Marcus Aurelius and precipitated the Roman Empire into the dark ages of the third century), and also of the three Great Plagues of Venice, especially the one of 1575-1577, which, following Lepanto, curtailed the momentum of that victory, killed 50,000 people (including Titian) and started the slow decline of 'La Serenissima’.

Speaker: Dr. Salvatore Mangione
