Event Details

Entomophagy ˌɛntəˈmɒfədʒi/ - the practice of eating insects for food.

Beyond being a regular game show prop, bugs should be a serious part of our future food conversation.

Nutritious and sustainable, the research clearly shows that entomophagy is something that the western world needs to consider to be able to manage the growing population and increasing demands on natural resources.

Are insects a super food? Can they save the planet? Do they have the potential to disrupt the $230bn Agribusiness industry (larger than mining) and the food industry? Already a multi-million industry overseas, what will it take for Australia to claim its share of the potential insect protein market?

Join our panel of researchers, industry experts and insect farming start-ups in an informative exploration of the potential of insects as a future food.  This will be a Q&A style panel format with audience questions. And yes, there will be bugs for sampling!
