Last year, 600 children – including students from the Buffalo Public Schools, Head Start preschoolers and those whose parents booked an appointment – participated in the day-long event on Feb. 5.
While Give Kids a Smile Day entails dental exams, cleanings and treatment, the emphasis is on making the youngsters comfortable with a dental visit and encouraging them to adopt good dental health habits at an early age, preventing major problems later. This is an access to care program and our hope is to provide dental care and find a dental home for every participant in need.
This year is a Pirate Theme! We hope that you will volunteer with us to make the event just as successful as in years past.
Please review the following questions when signing up to volunteer. Additionally:
1. You must provide us with proof that you have received a flu vaccine for 2017. If you have not, you must provide us a signed declination that will be provided to you via email after registration. If declination is signed, volunteers must wear a mask in all patient areas.
2. UB School of Dental medicine requires all volunteers to provide us with proof of HIPAA training. If you cannot provide us with proof, you will receive a training to be completed prior to volunteering.
3. You must provide us with certificate of infection control course completion as required by NYS guidelines.
Signed forms can be mailed to Squire Hall, Room 114, scanned and emailed to email@example.com, or faxed to us at 716-829-3895.
