Buffalo's Future: New Jobs in the New Economy - Are We Ready?
Thu, May 11, 2017, 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM EDT
Buffalo has experienced the growth of over 23,000 new jobs since the Great Recession. At the same time, we are experiencing a continued development push in the City and a focus on expansions in technology and light industry.
With that growth comes the demand for a skilled workforce. What are the plans to make sure we have the right people filling the right jobs?
Our panel will explore where this workforce will come from and how we can make sure they are trained and ready for the jobs created. The discussion will include a look at what where the jobs are and what industries have the greatest needs. They will also address what we need to do to provide opportunity for the unprepared or under-educated for these new jobs. Panelists will discuss what opportunities for training are available and what more needs to be done to prepare our workforce tor the future. They’ll also explore what Buffalo needs to do as a community to stay on track for future job growth and prosperity.
