Event Details

Eastern Washington is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. But far too many people in this community are just one accident or mishap from financial catastrophe. Yet policymakers in Washington D.C. are proposing deep cuts to federal programs that support the regional economy and help our neighbors have food on the table and a roof over their heads. Our regional economy is stronger when everyone can share in economic growth. We need to come together to protect Washington state from policies that would leave us under-resourced as we seek to ensure prosperity in our region.

At the Spokane Budget Matters Policy Summit, you’ll hear from Jared Bernstein on how our state can implement strong fiscal and social policies to grow the economy and generate shared prosperity. You will also hear from a panel of local leaders about the impact of federal and state policy decisions on Eastern Washington's communities.

About the Keynote Speaker:

Jared Bernstein is a senior fellow at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities and former chief economist and economic advisor to Vice President Joe Biden. He is a leading national commentator on the economy. In his book, The Reconnection Agenda, Bernstein offers real solutions for how we can address a fundamental national problem: economic growth can no longer be counted on to deliver broadly shared prosperity.

Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. with beverages and light breakfast provided. Program begins promptly at 9 a.m. More details to follow!
