Buddhist Mindfulness Meditation:
With Carol Cano & Paul Irving

This daylong retreat is part of the five-week Beginning Mindfulness Meditation class starting on September 20. The cost for this one-day retreat is included as part of the class. However, if you are not taking the whole class, you may still attend this one-day retreat. This daylong is appropriate for all who wish to deepen their practice in a group context. People of all ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender identities are welcome.
Teacher Dana: The teachers are supported solely by your donations for their time and teachings (they do not receive any portion of the registration fee). Suggested donation is $25 to $100 for the daylong. This amount can be offered to the teacher by cash or check (payable to SF Insight).

Carol Cano is Co-Founder and Guiding Teacher for Philippine Insight Meditation Community and Co-Founder of Templa Wellness in the Philippines. Having started her practice 25 years ago in Thailand, she moved to San Francisco in 1991, where she was introduced to Spirit Rock. Carol served on Spirit Rock’s Diversity Council, was mentored by Jack Kornfield the last four years, and completed the Community Dharma Leader program. She has a unique cross-cultural braiding of Native American and Basque Spirituality that complements her Dharma practice.
Paul Irving has practiced meditation and contemplation in Eastern and Western traditions since 1973. Having completed Spirit Rock’s Community Dharma Leader Program in 2012, he holds Spirit Rock’s certification to teach in the comm unity. Since 2005 Paul has been deeply involved with SF Insight, where he teaches regularly and has served as Board President. Additionally, Paul is one of the facilitators f or the Transforming Depression and Anxiety Practice Class that meets weekly at SF Zen Center. He is currently the Practice Manager of four allied medical clinics at UCSF.
Since we want our classes to be accessible to as many sangha members as possible, we offer our classes on a sliding scale registration fee basis. For those unable to afford the low end of the sliding scale, some limited income & scholarship slots are available (please call 415-994-5951 if the registration fee is an obstacle to your participation). • Please consider the highest level that you can donate in order to support those who have fewer resources.
