March 6, 13, 20 & 27, April 3, 2018

Daylong retreat on Saturday, March 24 from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm

This class will explore the basic teachings of the Buddha in both meditation practice and daily life. We will introduce and deepen the practice of Mindfulness, with the aim of integrating Mindfulness into all aspects of our lives. Each session will include guided meditation instruction, talks on fundamental Buddhist teachings, and time for questions and discussion. This class is appropriate for those new to meditation as well as those wishing to refine their existing practice. People of all ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender identities are welcome.

Teacher Dana: The teachers are supported solely by your donations for their time and teachings (they do not receive any portion of the registration fee). Suggested donations are $50 to $125 for the five-week evening class series (or $10 to $25 per class) and $25 to $100 for the daylong. This amount can be offered to the teacher by cash or check (payable to SF Insight) at the first class or at each individual class.

What to Bring: Please bring your lunch to the daylong retreat.

For Additional Information: Call 415-994-5951.

Paul Irving has practiced in Eastern and Western contemplative traditions since 1973. He has been an active member of San Francisco Insight since 2002. Paul was commissioned in 2012 to teach within community settings through Spirit Rock’s Community Dharma Leader training program. He teaches regularly at SF Insight. He also teaches workshops focused on using meditation to meet the challenge of depression and anxiety at SF Zen Center and Green Gulch Farm. Paul is engaged in moment-to-moment life practice with his husband, his step-daughter, while working in the allied health field at UCSF, and as a daily bike commuter.

Eileen Spillane has practiced Insight Meditation since 2001 and is a graduate of Spirit Rock’s Community Dharma Leader Program. She has practiced as a Nurse for close to thirty years, working with patients in the birthing process as well as many years with critically ill cancer patients. She enjoys teaching meditation in a supportive environment to help participants ease stress in their lives.

Since we want our classes to be accessible to as many sangha members as possible, we offer our classes on a sliding scale registration fee basis. For those unable to afford the low end of the sliding scale, some limited income & scholarship slots are available (please call 415-994-5951 prior to the first class if the registration fee is an obstacle to your participation). Please consider the highest level that you can donate in order to support those who have fewer resources. We ask for your commitment to the full class series. Series classes build on one another; your commitment supports coherence of the teachings and allows the participants to mature as a group.
