HEAR FRANK BRUNI, FIRST OPENLY GAY OP-ED COLUMNIST OF THE NEW YORK TIMES, IN CONVERSATION WITH AWARD-WINNING POLITICAL HUMORIST KATE CLINTON.

On Tuesday evening, March 12, Out Professionals presents Frank Bruni, the first openly gay op-ed columnist of The New York Times, in conversation with award-winning political humorist Kate Clinton.

Frank Bruni, an Op-Ed columnist for The New York Times since June, 2011, joined the newspaper in 1995. He has worn a variety of Times hats, including chief restaurant critic (June 2004-August 2009) and Rome bureau chief (2002-2004). Frank has been a White House correspondent and, for The Detroit Free Press, a movie critic.

Bruni has written two New York Times best sellers: a memoir, "Born Round" (2009), and "Ambling Into History" (2002), a chronicle of George W. Bush's campaign for the presidency. In 2002 HarperPerennial reissued in paperback "A Gospel of Shame: Children, Sexual Abuse and the Catholic Church" (1993), which Frank co-authored.

Kate Clinton is a self-described faith-based, tax-paying, America-loving political humorist. "To be simultaneously a million laughs and politically super-smart, it helps to be Kate Clinton," says Pulitzer Prize-winner Tony Kushner.

With a career spanning more than 25 years, Kate has worked through economic booms and busts, Disneyfication and Walmartization, gay movements and gay markets, lesbian chic and queer eyes, and 10 presidential inaugurals. She still believes that humor gets us through peacetime, wartime and scoundrel time. Kate's titles, available in paperback and e-book format, include "I Told You So," "What the L," and "Don't Get Me Started."

Doors open at 6 p.m. for networking and socializing; open bar, spirits generously provided by SKYY. At 7 p.m., Frank Bruni in conversation with Kate Clinton, followed by audience Q&A.
