Greyson's Story - Written by his Parents: Beth Corvene Regels, Justin Pike Regels and a Friend

Greyson Anthony Regels was born on November 28, 2016. It was the happiest day of our lives. This happy, silly, sweet little boy is the light of our lives. For the first 7 months of Greyson's life we enjoyed watching him grow and settling into being a family of three. Little did we know that our lives would be turned upside down and we will fight together to overcome. For about a month we started noticing some subtle differences in Greyson. He stopped barring weight on his legs and running around in his walker. He was running a fever regularly.

Justin and I brought Greyson to the pediatrician and he set us up with a neurologist, Dr. Abraham. As the blood tests were coming back negative, we were unsure what could be wrong. Greyson was happy and playful as usual. August, 9 2017 I went to Dr. Abraham our neurologist to have Greyson evaluated. After evaluating Greyson Dr. Abraham expressed her concerns and wanted an immediate MRI. That day we brought Greyson to Albany Medical Center and he received a MRI scan of his Brain and Spine.

We were settling in for the night at Albany Med, when another neurologist approached us with their findings. What was found was a large mass (about the size of a walnut). This mass was growing off of his right ventricle in his brain, causing extra fluid building up in his head. The news came approximately 3:30am August 10th. By 10:30am by meeting with our Neurosurgeon Dr. Adamo Greyson was taken to be prepped for surgery to remove the mass. Six hours after surgery, Greyson was in recovery. We were so proud of our brave boy while he was in a lot of pain. Dr. Adamo told us he was able to get the entire mass inside his brain. The next steps was getting his Tumor biopsy. The results came back in the next few days. The findings were, Greyson's tumor was a very RARE Choroid-plexus Carcinoma. Greyson will soon be going under chemo therapy and stem cell therapy. Albany Medical Center Oncology will be working with Dana Farber and a specialist on Pathology in Germany due to its rarity.

Greyson will be receiving treatments for the better part of the year and will be hospitalized in patient care for approximately 1 year. During that time Greyson's mother Beth will be out of work due to his care. His dad, Justin will be travelling to and from work to visit Albany Med daily. The funds and awareness that come in through facebook, t-shirt sales, gofundme etc. will be going toward travel and temporary housing expenses at the hospital. Thank you very much for your support for such an amazing family in need and a baby that needs all prayers.
