Ishti is proud to present our very first Brunch and Learn on December 3 at 10 am. Brunch and learns are workshops for all ages and levels. It is an opportunity to learn something new that is not readily available or accessible. The workshops are capped off with conversation and a potluck brunch.
Kinnari Vora will lead a 2 hour workshop on the Folk Dances of Western India. She will introduce us to the dances of the Roma people who originated in Northwest India. Dance forms that will be introduced are Kalbelia, Ghoomar, Garba, Raas, and Bhil.
Workshop instructor, Kinnari Vora is a versatile dancer and choreographer in Bharatanatyam, Folk and South Asian Contemporary. She trained under Guru Sarmishtha Sarkar in India and currently pursues dance under Guru Pranita Jain in Chicago. Her choreographic work includes Kamayani, World Music Festival and collaborations with Surabhi on the Romano journey.
Attendance limited to the first 15 folks who RSVP. A $5 donation is suggested to help cover the cost of the studio.
