Brother in the Wild
Sat, 22 Apr 2017, 12:00 – Sun, 23 Apr 2017, 17:00 BST
We’re super excited to announce that we’ll be holding our first ever ‘Brother in the Wild’ event this spring – involving a two day ride and campout in the New Forest National Park.
Participants will receive an event document two weeks before the event with a full itinerary and links to the ride routes - however for now we can tell you the following:
The event will include 2 days exploring the cycle routes that criss cross the forest, most of which are smooth gravel tracks surrounded by stunning woodland. Saturday's route will be approximately 30 miles and Sunday's 50 miles. Each route will dip in and out of local towns with a number of pubs and cafes to refresh yourselves!
Saturday night will be spent camping in the heart of the park, on a private site complete with firepits and toilets. We'll bring in a hog roast and some local ales at the campsite on the Saturday evening, however this is not included with entry and can be paid for in cash.
This is a social ride and not a race, however there will be competitions and challenges set throughout the weekend.
GPX files of the exact routes will be released nearer the event
Entry for the event is free - this includes GPX routes for the weekend, a spot in a private campsite and a few goodies throughout the weekend.
Numbers are strictly limited and entry will not be granted unless a rider has registered prior to the event. Please only register for a space if you're certain you can make it!
A full recommended kit list will be released nearer to the event - however for now please consider the following:
- A majority of the route will take place on rough gravel tracks, as such we recommend a bike with 28c tyres or larger. If it has rained recently knobbly tyres are recommended.
- We will provide a camping area however you will need to bring your own camping kit - tent, sleeping bag etc
- There is no mechanical support so you'll need to be totally self sufficient with all the necessary spares and tools to fix your bike should you encounter a mechanical problem!
- The rides are un-guided so you'll need a device (Garmin, mobile phone etc) that can support GPX files
We will continue to update this event description as the itinerary develops. However once you register we will also communicate any news to the email address you signed up with...
We hope to see you there!
