Many thanks to our event collaborators and community partners...

Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation (Restoration), the nation’s first community development corporation, was established in 1967 by the then Senator Robert F. Kennedy and a group of concerned local activists. At that time, Bedford Stuyvesant was almost synonymous with urban decline – it was a place with decaying buildings, high rates of crime, low-performing schools, massive disinvestment and pervasive poverty. Restoration sought to improve the quality of life for the residents of Central Brooklyn, a task it remains dedicated to even to this day. With a track record that spans half a century, Restoration is a trusted coalition builder and direct service provider that administers proven, evidence-based programming that serves nearly 81,000 Central Brooklyn residents annually. Our programs are aimed at removing barriers to upward mobility, facilitating economic opportunity and self-sufficiency, fostering education and healthy living; and promoting the arts and culture.

New York City’s LGBTQ community formed The Center in 1983 in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, ensuring a place for LGBTQ people to access the information, care, and support they were not receiving elsewhere. Today, The Center has become the largest LGBTQ community center on the East Coast, where we host over 400 community group meetings each month and welcome over 6,000 individuals each week. We are proud to offer services to New Yorkers across the 5 boroughs, ensuring that all LGBTQ New Yorkers can call The Center home. The Center has a solid track record of working for and with the community to increase access to a diverse range of high-quality services and resources, including our services for LGBTQ immigrants, substance use recovery programming for adults and youth, economic justice initiatives, and our youth leadership and engagement programs.
