Event description
Join NYC’s only curling community for a seven-week social league!

About this event

*NOTE: The Sunday league is currently full, having reached a full 40 players on 5 sheets. If you are still interested in joining the Sunday league, please put your name on the waitlist by clicking the register button on this page. We will contact you if we are able to add you to the league. Also note that we have Wednesday 1st Session and Wednesday 2nd Session waitlists you can sign up on which are more likely to let in additional players.

Join NYC’s only curling community for a seven-week social league with Brooklyn Lakeside Curling Club! Both new and experienced curlers take to the ice weekly for friendly, 90-minute games.

You may sign up as an individual or with your friends. If you are a new curler, or if you’ve previously taken a Try Curling class, we’ll direct you to the Rookie League, where you’ll benefit from skills-and-game coaching as you play.

Complimentary beer and water is provided for outdoor "broomstacking" after games.

Who can join: Curlers joining the league will require prior BLCC league play or one year of curling experience. If you’ve never curled before, or took a Try Curling class in the 2019-2020 season or earlier, you will be eligible to play in the Rookie League in 2021/2022. For this season only, if you took a Try Curling class during the 2020-2021 season, you will be eligible to join the non-rookie league. All ages 21 and up, all genders, all everything else, are very welcome.

Setup and Takedown: BLCC is an all-volunteer club. Curlers will be required to be at the ice at the listed start time each week for sheet setup and ice prep which will allow us to have a timely start and insure that we get in our full 1.5 hours of game play.

Team Selection: If you have already formed a team, please make a note of your team members’ names in the "team notes" box when checking out. If you do not have a team, or have less than a full team, indicate so in the ‘team notes’ box when checking out. Be sure to include whether you have 1, 2, or 3 additional players, and indicate your number of years of curling. Players signing up without a team will be assigned to one after registration closes.

All player slots are first come first served, so if you want to make sure your whole team is signed up, have all your teammates sign up at the same time. Our events often sell out in a matter of days. Note that you must buy each ticket individually as we require each teammate's name and contact info for contact tracing purposes and to verify curling experience eligibility for the league.

COVID-19 Guidelines: Brooklyn Lakeside Curling Club is committed to conducting a safe season and has developed an extensive set of safety guidelines for game play on the ice, as well as setup, breakdown and broomstacking off the ice. For the 2021-2022 season, the COVID safety regulations will see a few changes from last year.

ALL BLCC CURLERS MUST BE FULLY VACCINATED.

ALL CURLERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO FOLLOW THE BLCC COVID-19 GUIDELINES IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 2021-2022 SEASON. Please make sure to review the guidelines on our site before registering and before your first match. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us at hammer@brooklyncurling.org

League Format: Open format, six weeks of round robin play, followed by one week of championships and consolation matchups. All teams will be scheduled for all seven weeks.

Location: LeFrak Center at Lakeside, Prospect Park, 171 East Dr, Brooklyn NY 11225. Take the Q train to Parkside Av. or otherwise find your way to the Parkside and Ocean Avenue entrance to Prospect Park, enter the park and walk up the hill.

IMPORTANT: Pricing is $320 for league + $75 for the mandatory annual dues for Grand National Curling Club (GNCC), United States Curling Association, (USCA) and Brooklyn Lakeside Curling Club (BLCC). If you go on to curl in the Winter league this season, the $75 annual dues fee will not be added for any additional 2021-2022 league registrations.

All league curlers will be required to follow our COVID-19 Guidelines this season. Please review the guidelines on our site before your first match. All curlers will be required to sign our Declaration of Compliance with the BLCC Covid-19 Player Safety Guidelines along with the standard BLCC Participant Release and Lakeside Release before your first game. Failure to adhere to the guidelines may result in a player being removed from the league without refund.

By signing up you agree to abide by the BLCC Covid-19 Player Safety Guidelines. You also agree to receive emails from us regarding your league and club news. Your email address will be shared with your teammates in order to facilitate team coordination.

REFUNDS & COVID-19: Because of the uncertain nature of curling during the pandemic, we may need to end the league early if there is an outbreak within the league or at the Lakeside facility, or due to changing state & local government mandates or restrictions. In the event of a shutdown of the leagues by a mandate issued by the federal, state, or local government, BLCC will be able to provide a pro-rata refund less our Eventbrite fees, or your remaining portion can be deemed a tax-refundable donation to the BLCC (a 501c3 organization) curling stone purchase fund. BLCC will not be able to issue refunds for any remaining league dates that cannot be completed due to COVID-19 related closures of the league or the Lakeside facility.

Weather Cancellations: Because the Lakeside rink is only partially covered, we occasionally must cancel due to extreme weather conditions. If there is a weather cancellation, BLCC will make its best effort to extend the league season by one week on the same night and time to compensate. BLCC will not issue refunds for any league dates cancelled due to weather.
