The 8th annual benefit concert was organized by professional actor/musicians Laurie Davidson Spaner, daughter of Dr. Davidson, and her husband Craig Spaner of Portsmouth who have many years of experience performing in the Boston area as well as RI, NY, and CT. Joining Mr. & Mrs. Spaner in the group of many singers & musicians will be Emma Boroson, Abby Casey, Andrew Câmara, Lily Ferreira, Anne Kirkstead, Lenni Kmiec, Steve Jounakos, Dan Masterson, Patrick Murray, Don Levine, Anthony Pires, Jeffrey Sewell, Kim Kekligian Stamoulis, Devon Stone, Luke Sutherland & Gary Ryan, professionals from RI, Boston, NYC. Many talented local students will also be featured from the Portsmouth Public Schools, Kickemuit Middle School & Stage Door Dance Company. This has become an anticipated community event suitable for all ages.

The Dr. Robert A. Davidson Charitable Fund was formed in memory of Dr. Robert A. Davidson, known to most as Bob or Dr. D., who was a Portsmouth resident who practiced dentistry in Tiverton for 37 years. The fund is dedicated to raising money for local community causes. Bob was dedicated to his family and his community, especially children, so the renovation of the PHS auditorium this year is a perfect fit. All nine of Dr. Davidson’s grandchildren attend or have graduated from school in Portsmouth.

*Kate Grana Music and Arts Association (KGMAA) is a 501(c)(3) formed in 2018. Its purpose is to review current technical and structural needs of the PHS Auditorium and Music Suite and to assist in fundraising for improvements in order to establish a center for Music and the Performing Arts. New seating, stage lighting, sound equipment and much more are all part of the dream to bring these long ignored areas of the Portsmouth High School into the 21st Century. Their vision is to build a creative and inspirational hub that will not only benefit the students of PHS, but the whole community. In recognition of Kate Grana and her decades of influence and dedication to Portsmouth, the new auditorium will be named in her honor. PS Kate was the beloved middle school music teacher of Laurie Spaner who first sparked her love of singing!
