Free Professional Development Opportunity for Home Visitors - Brinkley, AR

When: Thursday, August 15, 2019
Time: 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM (Break for lunch 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM. Lunch will not be provided)
Where: Partee Elementary, 400 West Lynn St, Brinkley, AR 72021

Staff of home visitation programs (that serve families with young children (prenatal through age five), FBBH, HFA, HIPPY, NFP, PAT and SafeCare are specifically encouraged to attend. Staff from other programs whose PRIMARY method of service delivery to families with children (prenatal - 5 years of age) is through home visiting are also invited to attend. (PDR registered)

To help participants understand and appreciate the various skills, talents, abilities and preferences each person brings to any situation. To learn how to create an environment that addresses the needs of all Color Types.

By the end of this training, Home Visitors will be able to:

  • Understand Yourself
    Understand Others
    Appreciate Differences

Dental Health (Brinkley)

When: Thursday, August 15, 2019
Time: 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM
Where: Partee Elementary, 400 West Lynn St, Brinkley, AR 72021

Home Visitors have the perfect opportunity to teach families the value of their children's oral health and to adopt habits that prevent tooth decay and other lifelong health problems.

By the end of this training, Home Visitors will be able to:

  • Explain why baby teeth are important and discuss basic tooth development with parents.
  • Discuss "Early Childhood Caries", an oral disease, and its impact on a child's health and well-being.
  • Express ways for parents to prevent tooth decay.
  • Provide parents with strategies to improve their young children's oral health practices including feeding and cleaning.
  • Convey to expectant mothers why dental health is vital.

 

This project is supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as a part of an award to the Arkansas Department of Health totaling $7,784,751.00. Arkansas Home Visiting Training Institute

The Arkansas Home Visiting Network Training Institute provides supplemental training and professional development for home visitors and supervisors involved in home visiting services for families with young children. It is a collaborative program of the Arkansas Department of Health, Arkansas Children’s, and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Department of Pediatrics. Home Visitors can request Instructor-Led trainings at their location or participate in Online Courses at their convenience.
