Event description

Description

The board retreat is over, the SWOT and stakeholder interviews are long completed, and your organization’s strategic plan is now a carefully crafted document. Congratulations, you’ve reached the end of an intense and demanding strategic planning process! But this is actually just the beginning of the real work: using this strategic thinking to guide and enrich the day-to-day work of your organization. In this workshop, we’ll learn, discuss and practice approaches for bridging into implementation of the plan, communicating about the plan with internal and external audiences, leveraging the plan to elevate your organization, and tracking and adjusting throughout implementation. This interactive workshop will include individual and small group exercises, as well as lively discussion, to jumpstart application of the tools and information presented. Ideal participants for this workshop are anyone from staff or board charged with overseeing implementation of a strategic plan: Executive Director/CEO, Deputy Director/COO, Board Chair or other officer or committee chair.

Key Takeaways:

  • Best practices for operationalizing the strategic plan so it is integrated into departments' annual plans
  • Strategies for using the strategic plan to enhance fundraising and marketing/communications efforts
  • Tools for tracking progress on the strategic plan
  • Guidance for assessing when internal/external changes warrant a shift in strategic plan

This workshop will be presented by Suzanne Elliott of Envision Consulting
