Event description

Description

Now in their 6th year, our technical workshops held across India have proved extremely popular, with previous events in Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Mohali. On 5th and 6th December, we will be holding the following two workshops at the University of Hyderabad.

There is no charge for these events, but prior booking is essential and places are limited.

The two workshop sessions below will run in parallel so you will need to choose one session to attend.

Workshop 1 – Fabrication
Discusses developments and future trends in Plasma Processing and explores the latest in nanotechnology including 2D materials and atomic layer deposition (ALD) as well as plasma etching and deposition technologies for a wide range of applications.

Talks to include:

  • Introduction to general etch technology

  • Introduction to general deposition technology: ICP CVD, PECVD, ALD

  • Dielectric films for applications in device technology

  • Advanced etch technologies – Bosch, ALE and more

  • III-nitride electronic and opto-electronic devices

  • Ion beam applications for sensor fabrication

  • Challenges of growing highly-doped amorphous Si layers using PECVD

  • Plasma deposited amorphous silicon for photonic devices

  • Graphene and 2D materials

  • Emerging plasma processing technologies

  • 2D Materials

  • Meet the experts: Questions and close of Plasma Technology sessions

Workshop 2 – Characterisation
This workshop will focus on new materials and device research – particularly in the fields of Quantum Information Processing (QIP) and Quantum Computing (QC) that has been enabled by the advances in Cryofree technology for dilution refrigerators and superconducting magnets. At both applied and fundamental levels, the new tool sets are providing researchers with powerful and easily accessible capabilities.

Talks to include:

  • Introduction to nanoscience and an overview of Cryofree tools

  • Sensing individual photons with atomic membranes

  • Linear and non-linear dissipation in Pd Nano-mechanical resonators

  • Multifractal transport in graphene at ultra-low temperatures

  • Light emission through 1D nanorods, spin transport through ultrathin metal-oxide layers and superconductivity in boron doped nanocrystalline diamond

  • Recent developments in low temperature measurement tools for graphene
