Beacon is a game-changer in connectivity and the next big technology of the future. We want you to think outside the box and explore where you can take this technology by creating real, quality apps.
We will be providing various beacons you can work with donated by some awesome companies; also running a few workshops on Friday and Saturday and inviting bloggers and tech gurus to come see your apps!

Friday, February 28th
7:00 PM: *Registration*. Doors won't open until 7PM as we will be setting up. If you're not pitching an idea, get your voting tokens at the registration desk!

8:00 PM: Idea pitches and mentors feedback
8:45-9:15 PM: Voting with poker chips This is the chance for you to mingle with the idea generators and use your tokens to vote for your favorite ideas - please, take your time before you cast your vote and grill them a bit. FYI, casting your vote doesn't in any way require you to join their project.
9:30 PM: Best ideas announced and teams form
10:00 PM: Fosbury API workshop - Integrating iBeacons with Passbook
12:00 AM: Closing - We all need to leave! This is not an overnight hackathon- sorry!

Workshops - We will have 5 exciting hands-on workshops for you guys! Here they are:
Fosbury – Friday, 10 PM
Title: Integrating iBeacons with Passbook, a quick overview and demonstration.
Overview: Apple brought iBeacon support to Passbook from iOS7, which enables developers to bring iBeacon technology to iOS devices without the need of additional apps. In this workshop, Fosbury gives a quick overview of this integration using the Fosbury API.
Qualcomm Gimbal – Saturday, 10:15 AM
Title: Digital 6th Sense - Gimbal™ Contextual Awareness Platform
Overview: Qualcomm Retail Solutions, Inc. will introduce Gimbal™, contextual awareness platform that enables new ways for brands, retailers, venues, and apps to engage customers with more relevant, timely and personalized content with full respect of user privacy which can drive the end customer’s user experience, sales and loyalty. As part of the platform, we will demonstrate Gimbal Bluetooth® Smart proximity beacons which have secured transmission and officially been designed and certified by Qualcomm Retail Solutions, Inc. to meet Apple iBeacon performance standard. The Gimbal beacons will be available for every developer to support their great ideas during the hackathon event.
StickNFind – Saturday, 11:15 AM
Title: StickNFind Open Platform
Overview: StickNFind will showcase our open platform, which supports iBeacon, sBeacon, and any other Beacon Protocol. We will provide you with the full SDK and Source Code to create any protocol format you want. Our SDK will enable you to Interleave Protocols, Make Your Own Advertisement Packets, Set TX Power, and Interval Controls.
Punch Through Design – Saturday, 1 PM
Title: zomBeacons: An Interactive Demo of Infectious New Tech
Overview: Punch Through will demonstrate the use of multiple beacons and iOS devices in a lighthearted interactive application. We will explore the peripheral and central roles of Bluetooth LE, use PTD's LightBlue as a powerful debugging tool, and test the boundaries of iBeacon and CoreLocation."
Radius Networks – Saturday, 2 PM
Title: Building a Scavenger Hunt for Fun and Profit
Overview: Radius Networks built the iBeacon Scavenger Hunt for the largest electronics show in the world. Now you can build your own interactive scavenger hunt in this hands on walk through.
Judge #1 - Doug Thompson
Doug Thompson (@Dusanwriter) is publisher of BEEKn, the leading independent website focused on iBeacon technology. He is Co-Founder of LOCOLO, Ltd. a platform for creating brand stories and engagements using Bluetooth LE and related technologies. Doug has over 20 years experience in technology, advertising and marketing and is based in Toronto, Canada. His company is currently deploying beacon-based experiences with global brands, retailers and publishers.
Judge #2 - Signe Brewster
Signe Brewster (@signejb) is a reporter at Gigaom, where she covers materials science, robotics, 3D printing, space, health and augmented reality. She is an alum of Wired, CERN and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Judge #3 - Laura Kassovic
Laura Kassovic (@LauraKassovic) is the CEO and Co-Founder of MbientLab, an engineering design firm specialized in low-power embedded systems based in San Francisco, CA. Laura was an Intel hardware engineer and was the recipient of the AMD design award. A Bluetooth LE expert, Laura and MbientLab are responsible for building the hardware for companies coming out of Orange, YCombinator, and Techstars developing automated systems, beacons, wearables, and much more.
Judge #4 - Ryan Hoover
Ryan Hoover (@rrhoover) is the co-creator of Product Hunt, a daily leaderboard of the best new products, and EIR at Tradecraft. He also writes about product trends, growth, and behavior design with essays featured in Forbes, Fast Company, The Next Web, and Pando. Visit his blog to read his writing.
