ABOUT THE SOLOIST
Rae Wodarcyk started playing flute in 5th grade and has never stopped. She has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Engineering but has always made music part of her life. Rae has played flute and piccolo with the Lima (OH) Symphony Orchestra, Lima Area Concert Band, Canton (MI) Concert Band. She currently plays with the Arizona Wind Symphony and the Dove Valley Trio. She also plays piano and cello.
The Chaminade Concertino holds a special place in her heart, as it was one of the first solo works that she performed after winning a Concerto competition in college. She feels blessed to play with the Women’s Orchestra of Arizona and is grateful for their support, especially for their encouragement and showcasing of women in music.
Rae currently teaches at Weinberg Gifted Academy in Chandler Unified School District and directs the orchestra program there. She serves on the board of the Metropolitan Youth Symphony and is very appreciative of public school music teachers and their work with young musicians. She is married to her husband Chris, and they have three beautiful daughters. Rae thanks her family for their unending support!
