About this event

IN-PERSON EVENT:

NARRATIVE FRAMEWORKS FOR PROJECT-BASED LEARNING

Event Description:

How do you build and support the narrative for PBL?

Let’s look at actual stories from Brightworks to understand what makes a great PBL experience and what doesn’t work. From integrating core subjects like math and writing to coming up with project plans and provocations that you have confidence in, let’s dive into the details and then develop actual workable plans for your next school year. From dissecting narrative assessments and rubrics that help us communicate with parents who might not be fully comfortable with PBL, to figuring out where and when to connect project work to core skills (and when not to). Learning to develop highly engaging PBL means learning to trust the process/students and recognizing that you are going to get better at it with every project. We’ll discover milestones along the path that you may not be seeing, and explain how our educator collaborations build confidence and increase joy.

Organizer Brightworks

Organizer of Brightworks Summer Institute

Brightworks is the world famous K-12 school in your backyard that you’ve never heard of. You know the kind of education everyone is calling for all schools to deliver once we emerge from Coronavirus? Exploration-based, co-creative, interest-driven learning? Brightworks has been doing it for nearly a decade, with schools all over the world coming to us to learn how. Because of how we educate, Brightworks was able to pivot incredibly quickly to distance learning, and schools around the world have been learning from us how to build solutions with children as part of their curriculum too, to help everyone be prepared for the curveballs life throws us. If you want to be part of a school that learns because of what is going on in the world, not in spite of it, come see us.
