Please join us for a full-day Bridges Out of Poverty training with national trainer Prudence Pease on one of the following dates:

April 27 - Barre at the Canadian Club

May 12 - Newport at the Gateway Center on the waterfront

June 2 - Colchester Hampton Inn, (right off exit 16)

About this training

Bridges Out of Poverty is a powerful tool designed to provide a new lens for understanding poverty. Addressing economic insecurity of low-income individuals and families is at the forefront of the minds of community leaders, including employers, social service providers, and government officials who want sustainable communities in which everyone can do well. These trainings are geared towards business and organizational leadership, supervisors, and managers and will address the following topics:

  • Understanding economic class
  • Research on causes of poverty
  • Hidden rules of economic class
  • Building resources to move out of poverty
  • Community strategies addressing poverty in workplaces, families and human service systems

Fee: $75.00 per person fee includes lunch and materials. (plus Eventbrite registration fee)

This training is based on the book Bridges out of Poverty Strategies for Professionals and Communities by DeVol, Payne and Dreussi Smith and is being offered by the Working Bridges. Working Bridges is a program of the United Way of Northwest Vermont and Green Mountain United Way that develops and promotes strategies that help employers improve financial stability and job retention of low-to-moderate wage earners.
