Event description

Description

Join Atlas Network on Thursday, February 22 at the Cornell Club of New York for a reception featuring Mark Littlewood, Director General of the Institute of Economics Affairs.

The UK shocked the world in June 2016 when its citizens voted by referendum to leave the European Union (EU). Once the UK departs – which is scheduled to take place in March 2019 – the country will retake control of numerous policy areas, including trade, agriculture and a large swath of regulatory powers.

Mark will discuss the risks and opportunities of the UK’s decision to leave the EU, and how negotiations have been effected by turbulent political events since the initial vote to leave. Will the UK use Brexit to chart a new free-trading, buccaneering course outside the EU? Or might it wind up less free than would have been case had it voted to remain?
