Abstract

The UK referendum of 23 June 2016 and the Prime Minister’s subsequent notification of 29 March 2017 that the UK intends to leave the European Union have raised a myriad of questions with respect to the implications of Brexit for the future of both the UK and the EU. In particular, depending on the final outcome of the exit negotiations, Brexit may have significant repercussions for company and financial markets law. This poses enormous challenges not only for UK and EU companies, but also for companies from all over the world doing business in Europe. The talk will analyse the state of play of the exit negotiations and the potential implications and consequences of Brexit for companies doing business in Europe from a company and financial markets law perspective.
