Martin Luther, famous as the catalyst for the Reformation in Germany in the Sixteenth Century, was also a beer lover. He was known to say that it was God who reformed the church while he drank Wittenburg beer. Inspired by Luther's edict of "Thus, let us drink beer!" nearly 500 years later, a group of Lutheran, craft beer loving friends in Northwest Arkansas started a new tradition they called "Brewtheran" or "Beervent" as a way to celebrate Advent and enjoy good seasonal beers with each other.
In 2016 this group has decided to take this event public! On Friday, December 2, 2016, the public is invited to enjoy a seasonal home brew, a Brewtheran pint glass, and an evening of fellowship. True beer enthusiasts will want to reserve a case of beers that will be a mix of seasonal lagers, ciders, and beers. Those who reserve the case will also have a daily Advent devotional to go with each beer, and anyone interested in doing so can join in the daily conversation about that day's brew and devotional on the Brewtheran Facebook page.
ALL TICKETS ARE SUGGESTED DONATIONS. ALL proceeds from Brewtheran will benefit the general operating fund for Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fayetteville, AR.
Brewtheran doors will be open from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fayetteville, AR. Childcare will be available on site for $5 per child.
