Brewing Essentials Workshop
Overview
Welcome to the Brewing Essentials Workshop! - Timberline Coffee School
There’s a world of flavor hiding in every bag of coffee — you just need to know how to bring it out. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll explore the fundamentals of manual brewing so you can make consistently delicious coffee at home (or in the café).
We’ll start by breaking down the basics — grind size, ratio, water temperature, and brew time — and how each one shapes the way your coffee tastes. You’ll learn how to brew using simple, approachable pour-over techniques and how to make small adjustments to get the sweetness, clarity, and balance you’re looking for.
Together we’ll taste different brews, talk through what we notice, and connect the dots between brewing variables and flavor in the cup.
By the end, you’ll know how to:
- Brew delicious coffee using a manual dripper (like a V60 or Kalita)
- Understand how grind size, water, and ratio affect flavor
- Troubleshoot common brew issues (too bitter, too sour, too weak)
- Taste and describe coffee using simple sensory language
- Build confidence brewing great coffee anywhere — from home kitchens to mountain campsites
Perfect for anyone who loves the craft of coffee and wants to take the guesswork out of brewing.
