Description

Breeze of Simplicity - Rubbing Out Self and Non Conflict with Venerable Pannavati Bhikkhuni

Conceptualizing beings based on perceptions of differences such as high or low social status, light-skinned or dark, rich or poor, this clan or that, should be abandoned. The question is, how do we do that? This same question was posed to the Buddha by his direct disciples. This weekend, we will review his advice and endeavor to embark upon both the practice and the mind-training (meditation) he prescribed that allows us to re-incline the mind and heart towards a different way of seeing, knowing and engaging with each other. Over the weekend we will delve into this with practice and reflection.

Schedule
Friday - 7:00 p.m. keynote
Saturday - 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Sunday - 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
There will be a lunch break from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday & Sunday.

Please note that lunch will not be provided so be prepared to bring your own or travel to a nearby cafe or restaurant. There is an authentic Mexican restaurant across the street from Nalanda, all other options are at least a 15 minute walk to ten minute drive.

Venerable Pannavati Bhikkhuni Ven. Dr. Pannavati, a former Christian pastor, is co-founder and co-Abbot of Embracing-Simplicity Hermitage and Co-Director of Heartwood Refuge. She is president of the Treasure Human Life Foundation. A black, female Buddhist monk ordained in the Theravada and Chan traditions, received Vajrayana empowerments and teachings, and received transmission from Roshi Bernie Glassman of Zen Peacemaker. Ven. Pannavati conducts retreats nationally at over 50 centers and churches each year sharing living truths that are deep, yet easy to apprehend. She advises the cultivation of both wisdom and compassionate action and believes it is fine to sit in temples and meditate and pray when things are good; when they are not, we are compelled to get off our pillows and do something. Let our actions line up with our intentions.
