Event description

Description

Join me in celebrating Earth Month 2018 at Beyond Sushi. This year’s theme is "Plastic Pollution" and I'll be sharing tips on how to "break up" with our toxic relationship with plastic. As a passionate avid home cook and foodie, I am aware of how much plastic is integrated into the food world, and have taken the steps to free myself from it, easily and deliciously.

Plastic Pollution can be found all over the globe. As it takes 450 years for plastic to break down, every item of plastic that has ever been created is still with us on the planet today. Each year, 8 million metric tons of plastic end up in our oceans. At the rate we're going, by 2025, it would be nearly 20 times more, and it's forecast the by 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. So this craziness has to end, and we can all do our bit to create and inspire change, big and small.

The workshop includes a short screening of the documentary "A Plastic Ocean" and a chat with me, followed by a Q&A. Light refreshments will be provided by Beyond Sushi. A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to Plastic Oceans Foundation.
