Event Details

You've prepared your body for 26.2 miles, now prepare your mind.

"The wall".

Simply defined as that period in time during a marathon when your mental and physical strength are tested simultaneously. Complexly defined as the point in which your body's stored glycogen is depleted and the feelings of fatigue and negativity accompany it. Usually occurring around mile 20, as most training programs only train up to a 20 mile long run, many refer to it as the exact point where all your pre-race plans go out the window.

So, how do you complete the last leg of your race comfortably?

That’s where we come in. The Breaking Through The Wall marathon preparation seminar covers topics including nutrition, hydration, insider race course tips, recovery, mental strategy, and more.

This year's panel includes:

  • Desi Linden: 2018 Boston Marathon women's winner. Two-time Olympian.
  • Jim Walmsley: Western States 100 course record holder and 2020 Olympic trial qualifier.
  • Allie KiefferProfessional runner for Maurten and body-positivity influencer. Kieffer placed 5th in 2:29:39 at the 2017 New York City Marathon. She placed 7th at the 2018 New York City Marathon with a time of 2:28:12.
  • Michael NishiSince 1990, Nishi has partnered with Carey Pinkowski as General Manager and Executive Race Director of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, respectively. Nishi also was a lead on Nike's Breaking2 marathon attempt.
  • Mike Norman: Head coach of Chicago Endurance Sports, which trains over 1,200 athletes for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon each year.
  • Dave Zimmer: Founder of Fleet Feet Chicago
  • Dr. Lexi Mikrut, D.C., M.S.: Functional Medicine Doctor at Aligned Modern Health. Graduate of National University of Health Sciences.

Stick around for the meet and greet with the athletes thanks to our sponsors at Brooks Running, HOKA ONE ONE, and Maurten.

A portion of the proceeds benefit Alzheimer's Association.
