To help individuals advance their careers, the Ottawa Chinese Community Service Centre, in partnership with Lighthouse Labs, is excited to offer transformative essential skills training courses on teamwork, collaboration, communication, problem solving, and critical thinking in the workplace.

This training is available at no cost to eligible applicants thanks to the ICT Boost Initiative - a program funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Sectoral Workforce Solutions Program (SWSP).

Eligible participants must be:

Minimum of 18 years of age
Currently residing in Canada
A Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada
Legally entitled to work in Canada (According to the relevant provincial and federal legislation and regulations)

Speaking up on the job is an important factor in building a successful career. However, understanding how and when to speak up in a new country whilst job searching and as a new staff member is critical. In this workshop, you'll learn about a few job search strategies and networking techniques. (LinkedIn, AI , other employment hacks, as well as other job search platforms). We shall about psychological safety at work and we'll provide you with tactics to help with your contributions in meetings and conversations. Even the quietest, shyest person will leave this workshop feeling more confident about sharing their ideas!

In this course, participants will:

- Provide specific strategies to use in applying the 30-60-90 Day Plan to a new job in their field

- Discuss ways to be comfortable speaking up in meetings at work

- Demonstrate speaking up in a meeting scenario with peers

- Learn job search techniques and overcome all the barriers (such as language/experience/cultural differences)

- Practice techniques to build confidence while searching for a job as well after joining your dream job.

Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate.
