Breaking the Ice had its debut in April 2017 at Parade Ice Garden with performances by national and world champions, and featuring North High Polar boys’ basketball state champions skating with an Edina synchronized skating team to Earth, Wind and Fire. Once again Breaking the Ice will provide breathtaking skating by national and world champions as well as unexpected performances sure to inspire and delight; bringing people together across differences to share the joys and power of optimism and interconnectedness. Breaking the Ice supports Athleadership a leadership development program with collaborator Heritage Youth Sports Foundation. HYSF develops leadership through sports and partners with Continuum Center to train high school “athleaders” to teach elements of the Discovery of Self curriculum to youth in their community as a summer job.
