Breaking The Gate: Online talk and Q&A for migrant creatives

Sharing knowledge and experience from the perspective of 2 emerging migrant creatives: Shahaf Beer, and Anya Ostrovskaia.

Shahaf (he/him) will offer insight into building a network and long-term creative planning, drawing from his experience as an emerging theatre-maker and first-time self-producer. He’ll speak from a creative perspective about navigating the industry and making your work stand out. Following his first self-led project, The Jewish Dog.

Talk title: “How to get your work in Vogue – and get ACE funding?”

Anya (she\her) will reflect on creating work in the UK through the lens of an immigrant artist, exploring how to translate personal stories and make them resonate with local audiences. She’ll also share practical knowledge from producing for fringe festivals such as Camden Fringe, Volt, LIFT, and Voila! Festival.

Talk title: “How do we tell personal stories to British audiences? Can they really hear us?

A Zoom link will be sent via email the week of the event

what kind of quotations can I ask at the Q&A?

The point of this talk is to try to crush the term 'gatekipping'. We will answer any questions (!) or at least try to, happy to help with any subject! Advice for a new project? How do we pay rent? How was it to work together on a performance for Camden Fringe 24?

Sounds very interesting, but I'm not a migrant can I join?

We would love to share our experience with anyone interested. We will talk about our experience of studying and working in the UK from a migrant lens.
