Event description
A Conversation about Teen Mental Health

About this Event

Black youths are feeling overwhelmed and discouraged during this moment of national upheaval. Most Americans report more anxiety and depression in response to the coronavirus pandemic. While this can be affecting everyone’s mental health, it’s apparent that black teenagers are particularly affected.

Not only can social isolation due to COVID-19 cause feelings of sadness, anxiety and depression but when you add on the fact that Black people are dying at a disproportional rate due to the virus and recent extreme police brutality and violence, these events can take a serious toll on teens.

DJ Kenyatta Smith (aka DJ Vader Mixx) from Radio One will moderate the mental health conversation with local experts from Cincinnati Children's to help raise awareness of mental health conditions, remove the stigma attached, understand adaptive and maladaptive coping behaviors, and learn how to take care of yourself. List of resources will be provided.
