Make A Big Splash in Your Building!
Will you be able to solve the clues and get into the box, or will time run out before you succeed?
In this full day workshop, participants will begin by taking part in an actual escape room themed experience. Next, participants will explore all of the curricular possibilities and classroom applications that the experience can provide for their students. Samples will be provided at a variety of grade levels, and in a variety of content areas. In the session web-based resources will also be provided to assist in creating original customized experiences. In the next portion of the workshop participants will be provided with recommendations, suggestions, and short-cuts based on personal experiences of implementing these activities in a wide sampling of school districts, in a wide variety of grade levels, and with groups of varying sizes.
In the afternoon, participants will begin the process of creating their own activities and experiences using the information and guidance provided in the morning. A second focus will be on the process of embedding the 21st century skills, including essential elements of critical thinking, into the experiences that are created in the workshop. All participants will leave the workshop having begun the process of creating their own activity and with the resources, confidence and community to implement it in their classroom and districts.
