Bread of Souls — A Palestinian Bread-Making Workshop
On Sunday, November 9th, join us at E5 Bakehouse for an afternoon of making Palestinian bread — kneaded and baked as a ritual of grief.
Arrive from 11:30 AM for tea and settling in. The workshop begins promptly at 12:00 PM and will conclude at 3:00 PM
We often struggle to navigate so-called “healing spaces.” How can healing exist while witnessing the horrors that have unfolded before us over the past two years? Yet this bread-making gathering offers a different kind of invitation: to come together, reflect on loss, make and break bread, and listen deeply to stories from Palestine
Led by Zeina and Carol, this workshop is not about perfecting dough — it’s about ritual.
Together we will:
- Make Palestinian bread dough to take home and bake
- Say prayers, share wishes, and tell stories about loved ones — only if we feel moved to
- Shape and bake loaves in community
- Share mezze, drink tea, and learn about food sovereignty
- Hear stories and prayers passed through generations.
This is a ticketed event (20 spots only). Proceeds will cover running costs; all surplus will go to the Sameer Project.
To make this gathering more accessible, four affordable-price tickets are reserved for global majority allies and friends. If this speaks to you and you’d like to attend, please email carolputhussery@gmail.com .
The meal we will share at the end of this event will be vegetarian; please let us know if there are any other allergies we should be aware of. Unfortunately, this event will not be able to cater to gluten or sesame allergies.
This is not a charity lunch — it is an invitation to listen, learn, and take part in a tradition that speaks of resilience and liberation.
