Braver Angels Town Hall - Is our democracy under attack from within?
Event Information
About this Event
This meeting's topic: Is our democacy under attack from within?
The 2020 election is over, but concerns about our democracy remain high on all sides - and the gravest threats may come from within. Violence at the U.S. Capitol. Impeachment. Election integrity. Misinformation. Mistrust. And much more. Join us for a wide-ranging discussion about whether and how our democracy is under attack - from within. We want to hear what you think.
How it works:
A Braver Angels Town Hall is an open-floor discussion. It brings together up to 15 reds (conservatives),15 blues (liberals or progressives), and 15 other-colors (purple, green, libertarian, etc.) to discuss an important political issue. Each speaker gets up to 3 minutes to share their views. Speakers alternate by color (red, blue, other, ...). Participants can ask follow-up questions to the speakers. The event runs two hours in total. A moderator leads the discussion and ensures civility. Speaking is voluntary but encouraged.
The goal is not to reach consensus (although fine if it happens!). Honest disagreement is expected and encouraged. The goal is to share our views in a constructive way, expose ourselves to a range of opinions, and build greater understanding. You're guaranteed to come away with a fresh, invigorated perspective - and hopefully a renewed faith in your fellow Americans.
Date and time:
Tuesday, February 16, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Central. The debate will be online via Zoom. Sign-in information will be circulated a few days before the event to people who RSVP on Eventbrite.
Why you should sign up:
