Karl Handelsman, CMEA Capital

CMEA Capital does not only distinguish itself from VC companies in Palo Alto by its location, but also by its investment philosophy: "We believe the explosion in science over the last generation is a mere preamble to what lies ahead. Advances in our three focus areas – life sciences, information technology and energy and materials – will transform the way people around the globe live, work, treat their health and consume energy."

Karl got an M.B.A. from MIT and degrees in Genetics and Biology&Physics from Harvard Medical School and Boston University. Karl specializes in Biotech, a research field where he fosters early stage life science innovation by helping entrepreneurs to translate science into products.

Allison Wellsfry, Angel Investor

Allison is an Angel Investor passionate about early-stage and emerging CleanTech startups. Earlier in her career she spend 16 years with Cisco in different positions. Allison is a founding member of the Berkeley Angel Network and she chairs the Global Clean Technology Committee of the Keiretsu Forum (the world’s largest angel investor network with 850 accredited investor members throughout twenty one chapters on three continents).

Allinson got an M.B.A. from Golden Gate University and she is also an alumna of UC Berkeley.

Peter S. Fiske,  PAX Water Technologies

Peter is President and CEO of PAX Water Technologies, Inc., a new company that has developed high-efficiency water treatment technologies for the municipal water industry. Prior to joining PAX Water, Fiske was co-founder and VP for Business Development and Sales of RAPT Industries, in Fremont, CA. RAPT Industries developed a new process for rapidly shaping and polishing optical and semiconductor materials and is using this process to manufacture a new class of lightweight optical mirrors out of silicon carbide. Fiske identified the technology while at LLNL and, as a second-year evening M.B.A. student at Haas, developed the business plan for RAPT which won first place in the third annual U.C. Berkeley Business Plan Competition in 2001.

Peter got a Ph.D. from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the Haas School of Business at U.C. Berkeley. His articles on career development and entrepreneurship have been featured on-line and in print including in Science, Nature and New Scientist.
