Event description
BPC Government Affairs Committee Meeting w/Asm. Bill Quirk

About this Event

Please join Bay Planning Coalition for our next Government Affairs Committee Meeting on Friday, April 24th, from 10:00AM-11:30am at Stice & Block LLP in Downtown Oakland (*or by videoconference if current health regulations remain in place*) as we host special guest Assemblymember Bill Quirk (D-Hayward) for an important discussion about his bill AB 2148, which is designed to support regional planning and implementation of climate adaptation projects. In December, the Legislative Analyst’s Office (LAO) released a new report Preparing for Rising Seas that analyzed how the state can support local sea level rise adaptation efforts by helping to plan, design, and implement projects around the state, and AB 2148 is aimed at supporting those regional climate adaptation efforts. Following the discussion with Asm. Quirk, the committee will host a conversation and seek input from members about BPC’s policy goals for 2020.

Assemblymember Bill Quirk was elected in November 2012 to represent the 20th Assembly District, which consists of Hayward, Union City, Castro Valley, San Lorenzo, Ashland, Cherryland, Fairview, Sunol and North Fremont. Before being elected to the Assembly, Quirk worked as a climate change scientist and a Hayward City Council member.
