As the COVID pandemic enabled most of the region's workforce to work remotely, many began to move out of dense urban areas and farther from transit to suburban communities in search of larger or more affordable housing options. Now as offices begin to reopen, a more suburbanized workforce is increasingly relying on cars for lengthy commutes, leading to greater vehicle emissions and threatening the economic sustainability of our public transit systems.
