Expert Briefing on Decarbonizing Commutes in the Post-Pandemic Bay Area
About this event
Please join Bay Planning Coalition’s Expert Briefing: Decarbonizing Commutes in the Post-Pandemic Bay Area on August 11th from 9:00am-10:00am via Zoom Webinar.
As the COVID pandemic enabled most of the region's workforce to work remotely, many began to move out of dense urban areas and farther from transit to suburban communities in search of larger or more affordable housing options. Now as offices begin to reopen, a more suburbanized workforce is increasingly relying on cars for lengthy commutes, leading to greater vehicle emissions and threatening the economic sustainability of our public transit systems. Please join Bay Planning Coalition on August 11th for an Expert Briefing on decarbonizing our transportation modes in a post-pandemic Bay Area, where transportation and air quality experts will explore how the Bay Area can continue to make progress on reducing transportation emissions in a fundamentally altered commute landscape. Confirmed speakers include:
- Richard Corey, Executive Officer of the California Air Resources Board (CARB)
- Lisa Fasano, External Affairs Officer of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD)
- Bradford Paul, Deputy Executive Director, Local Government Services, Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC)
