Bowling For Books
Sunday, February 9, 2014 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM (CST)
Forest Park, IL
On February 9th from , Griffith Tutoring will be holding it’s second Bowling Fundraiser and Book Drive in honor of Stephen Vernon, a committed supporter of Griffith’s mission and close friend of Griffith’s founding team. Books donated will go to Legal Prep Academy, Chicago’s first only legal themed charter school, for their new library. All event proceeds will benefit Griffith Tutoring, its programs, and the Stephen Vernon Award, a scholarship awarded to students with extraordinary ACT growth. Food will be provided, and an open bar serving draft beers will be available! In addition, T-shirts will be sold to commemorate the event.
While it is not required, we encourage those who attend to form teams of 4-6 people. For each game, we will average the scores to get a team score. The team with the highest average score will receive free tickets to our Spring Into ACTion Benefit, which is Griffith Tutoring’s main annual fundraiser. At the Benefit, The 2014 Stephen Vernon Award will be given to two high-achieving Griffith students so we encourage everyone to come out and meet the two students who are benefiting from this year’s Bowling For Books!
When & Where
Griffith Tutoring is a non-profit organization preparing at-risk Chicago high school students for the ACT college entrance exam by partnering with businesses and training their professionals to tutor and mentor the students.
Many high school students will not gain admission to college because they do not have a sufficient ACT score and cannot afford the private tutoring necessary to improve. Griffith Tutoring was established to address this issue, offering a free ACT tutoring program to students who have the desire and ability to attend college.
