Event description

Description

Flowers and textiles, although beautiful, can be harmful to our environment when grown and produced using toxic chemicals. Most people do not know how harmful these two industries are. Large industries are stripping the planet of its water resources and at the same time saturating it with toxic chemicals and pollution.

Norfolk based Forever Green Flower Company grows only sustainable flowers using organic methods, by hand on her farm in Aylmerton. The Way Of Tea is Norfolk based natural dyer and textile artist who uses only organic and reclaimed fabrics and dyes them using plants from Forever Green Flower Company, grown herself or foraged in local woodlands.

This summer, you can find out more about both these sustainable alternatives whilst learning how to make a bouquet and dye bamboo silk ribbons to tie around it. Cel, from Forever Green Flower Company will walk you around her beautiful farm of flowers, grown according to organic principles, and help you select flowers to make your bouquet. Libby, from The Way Of Tea, will take you step by step through the natural dye process known as bundle dyeing, and show you how to use some of these plants to dye ribbons that will work perfectly with your bouquet.

There will also be tea and cake, and hopefully some summer sun.
