About this workshop: Love stories? Join us in making stories with ScratchJr, a free programming language for youth 5 years to 7 years old. This family workshop is a playful introduction to ScratchJr, which allows youth to create simple stories, animations, and games. Please bring an iPad or Android tablet, with the free ScratchJr app installed if you have one -- a few will be available on loan.
You’ll Learn How To: Create your own stories with ScratchJr, a free programming language for kids 5+
Target Audience: Families with kids between 5 to 7 years old (all kids must be accompanied by an adult)
Description of event leader/organization: This event if facilitated by Ricarose Roque with her team Marissa Wajda and Fuji Robledo Yamamoto from the University of Colorado Boulder. Ricarose has been conducting research and outreach as part of the MIT Scratch Team for more than six years.
Parent involvement: Stay and work with your child. This is not a “drop off” event
Do Kids/parents need to bring anything to participate? Please bring an iPad or Android tablet with the free ScratchJr app downloaded. A few tablets will be available on loan.
By RSVPing your seats are reserved until the first 5 minutes of the event, and then your seats may be released. If you are unable to attend after RSVPing, please have the courtesy to cancel your reservation so that someone from the waitlist may have the chance to attend.
