Event description
Learn to make Boulani with Cilantro Chutney (traditional Afghani finger food) by Hayat's Grill

About this Event

In partnership with Spice Kitchen Incubator, learn how to make Boulani with Cilantro Chutney, a traditional Afghani finger food with potato, onion, and parsley grilled between tortillas and dipped in a light cilantro chutney from Chef Hayat of Hayat's Grill.

Hayat moved to Utah in June of 2011 from Afghanistan. When asked why he started Hayat’s Grill, he responded “to share my culture with others in hopes of erasing hatred that has taken place in so many hearts and bridging gaps over a cup of tea.” Hayat believes that Afghani cuisine is one of the best in the world and is excited to introduce it to Salt Lake City. His food can be found aboard his food truck and is also available for catering.

Spice Kitchen Incubator is a project of the International Rescue Committee (IRC), and was founded in partnership with Salt Lake County. It is a business incubator that brings together refugees and other disadvantaged community members interested in starting a full or part-time food business. Spice Kitchen Incubator ensures participants receive technical assistance and training, have affordable access to commercial kitchen space and learn the steps to establishing a successful food business.

This workshop will be held in the vacant storefront outside the Main Library, next to the Community Writing Center and KCPW--just look for the signs!
