Description

Learn more in our plant knowledge series!

This time, it's a chance to learn how plants employ survival strategies.

NHG's Dana Wilson details the sometimes weird but always fascinating ways that plants have adapted to ensure that they survive in the tough times and flourish in the good. Many plants reproduce by seed, and many others may colonize by rhizomes and stolons. But beyond reproduction, there's shedding limbs, emitting toxic substances, and adapting plant surfaces-- with protective waxes, defensive prickles and maybe some alluring nectar. These are just a few of the tricks plants use to survive, thrive, and dominate our landscape. Dana details these and more in this new, FREE class.

Dana Wilson is a native Dallasite, and she attended Lake Highlands High School, TCU, and UNT. She is a member of the North Texas Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalist Program and the Dallas chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas. With North Haven Gardens since 2016, she has shared her Texas native expertise as Garden Advisor and speaker, and currently functions as Events Coordinator, handling all of NHG's private events.
