BIO 102 | Botanical Field Sketching

ABOUT THE COURSE
This course will teach you how to create location-based botanical drawing and illustration and will inspire you to create projects based on class drawings. Drawing trips to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, Zilker Botanical Garden, and the Austin Nature & Science Center will begin or end with short lectures and group crit. Recommended to take concurrently with BIO 103 Natural History of Austin which meets back-to-back with this class; 10% off if you take both classes. Students are responsible for admission fees to the parks visited (est. $3-10 per trip). No drawing experience is necessary.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Jedidiah Dore, MFA
An award-winning illustrator, Jedidiah Dore is founder/owner of Ink & Sword art and design studio. He earned a BFA in drawing and communication design and an MFA in painting from the Pratt Institute and studied under artist Dave Passalacqua at the Passalacqua School of Drawing and Illustration.
COURSE POLICIES & FAQS:
Registration & Cancellation Policy | Payment is required in full the day you register. We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a class if it does not make a minimum number of registrants. We will notify you 24 hours in advance should we have to cancel a course and we will provide a full refund. We will refund your registration, less a 25% cancellation fee, up to 15 days prior to your class. Please note that cancellations made with less than 15 days notice are nonrefundable. In the event you can no longer attend your class, registration may be transferred to a friend or family member free of charge.
What should I bring? | Bring plain paper and a pen or pencil to the first class. The instructor will review additional materials in the first class meeting.
Is there an age requirement for your classes? | Students must be 16 years of age or older to participate in our courses. Occasional exceptions to this requirement (such as for kids classes) will be mentioned in the course description or may be made with the permission of the instructor.
Do I need to print my ticket? | No, you can help us go green by letting us check you in electronically at classtime.
Where is my class location? | The first class on November 6th meets at Art.Science.Gallery. which is located in the Canopy fine arts complex at 916 Springdale Rd., Building 2 #102, Austin, TX 78702. There's plenty of free parking. Subsequent class meetings will be at field sites around Austin.
