Event Details

Join us for a fun filled day of Bostons, BBQ and Blues! We are bumping up the fun a notch this year and holding the Second Annual Boston Butt Cookoff  at Fuzions in Monroe.  In addition to determining if your butt has what it takes to win, we are adding in all day entertainment of some of the south's finest Blues, Folk, Blue Grass and Southern Rock musican's to keep you on your feet and singing along.  Adult and children's games, along with craft and other vendors will round out the festival. A benefit Poker Tournament... Hold'um to Help'um will round out the day inside of Fusions.  And of course... there will be Boston Terriers and their four legged friends to keep you company!

We are currently registering BBQ Competition teams and selling admission tickets to the Festival.  Your ticket will allow you one sample each of the competition teams BBQ until BBQ runs out. Each person will have one vote for the "People's Choice."

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Event Regulations:

This is a benefit event, not a sanctioned contest.

Contestant: A contestant is any individual, group, restaurant, etc. hereinafter referred to as a team that will prepare and cook an entry  for the purpose of being judged

Equipment: Each team will supply all of the equipment necessary for the preparation and cooking of their entry including a cooker, wood, charcoal, gas or wood pellets.

MEAT INSPECTION - All meats must be USDA or state DA inspected and passed. We ask that prior to cooking all meat must be maintained at a maximum temperature of 40 degrees F. Prior to cooking, all meat that is resting in preparation for cooking must be covered at all times. All meats must be cooked to a minimum internal temperature of 145 degrees F. After cooking all meat must be maintained at a minimum temperature of 140 degrees F in a covered container until turned in for judging.

CONTESTANT'S SITE - Each team will be assigned a cook site. All equipment including cooker, canopy, trailer, etc. must be contained within this space. If additional space is required the team should contact the contest organizer at and make satisfactory arrangements.

BEHAVIOR - Every team, including members and guests, are expected and required to exhibit proper and courteous behavior at all times. If behavior is deemed unacceptable, then the individual and/or will be asked to leave.

CLEANLINESS AND SANITATION - All teams are expected to maintain their cook sites in an orderly and clean manner and to use good sanitary practices during the preparation, cooking, and judging process. The use of sanitary gloves is required at all times while handling food. Failure to use sanitary gloves may result in disqualification. Teams are responsible for cleanup of their site once the competition has ended.

Judging: Each team will provide a sample of their Boston Butt for judging. Each judge will sample the meat and record the score. The team with the highest score from the Judges will win Grand Champion. In addition, each team is required to provide samples of the meat to those attending the event. Attendees will have an opportunity to vote for which meat they like best and the team with the most votes will win People’s Choice.

You will have access to your assigned cooking spot starting on Friday. We encourage each team to bring a tent, table and table cloth.  The more creative you get with your booth/tent the better!  We will provide you with sample cups that you can provide a taste of your meat to those who are attending the event.  However you will need to provide your own utensils, etc for meat cutting, shredding and serving.   Please be prepared to cook at least 10 pounds of Meat.

Given that this is going to be an awesome smelling event for the dogs that do attend... they may get a bit riled up. So please do not give samples of the meat to the dogs. We do not want to have a dog fight break out. At the end of the day if there is meat left over and you want to take a "doggy bag" home or give out doggy bags for people to give their dogs a taste later that's fine... but please not during the event.
