KAWAMA is a Boston born, female student-athlete founded, award-winning tequila soda designed for high drinkability and an elevated canned cocktail experience. KAWAMA is made with real blanco tequila, real fruit juices, lower carbonation, no sugar, 4.5% ABV and only has 99 calories. That’s #BrightAndTight. We currently have three flavors: grapefruit, lemon, and lime.
KAWAMA is a home-grown, family-owned brand started during the Covid pandemic when Lindsay Reed, Harvard Women’s Ice Hockey goalie and 2x USA Hockey World Champion, found herself bored with online classes and sitting around all day. Lindsay, currently in her senior year of school, noticed a need for a light, canned tequila drink you could feel good about putting in your body. Enter KAWAMA. Since launching the brand, Lindsay’s older brother, Kersey Reed, former St. Lawrence lacrosse graduate, has quit his job in finance to also take on KAWAMA full time.
KAWAMA launched exclusively in Massachusetts in 2021, we have since expanded across the East Coast from NJ up to ME! See our Store locator here.
“KAWAMA” means “sea turtle” and is derived from the Spanish word “caguama” (kuh-gwaa-muh) for “loggerhead sea turtle.” Part of our mission is to give back a portion of our profits to ocean life and support conservation efforts helping to keep our salt and freshwater ecosystems healthy.
