Event description

Description

What we do/Our workshop:

Our monthly workshop is back by popluar demand. Every month (excluding December), BCC provides comedians of all levels of experience, comedic styles, and genders a supportive learning environment where they can practice material, get feedback, brainstorm new material, and participate in group exercises to work their comedy muscles. Our workshop is held on the the first Thursday of each month, starting in October 2017 to June 2018. This month, your workshop is led by Kathe Farris with Brett Johnson! It’s a great way to work on your material and network with other local comedians.

Optional Open Mic Follows Workshop at 9:30pm

New this season, Boston Comedy Chicks presents a free monthly open mic. Spots are guaranteed to everyone who attends the workshops. Everyone else signs up starting at 9pm. Don't miss this chance to try out your new and improved material in front of a live audience.

Kathe Farris:

Kathe Farris is a housewife, mother, and comedian based just outside Boston. She addresses searingly hot suburban topics like calcium supplements and book club rivalries, offering commentary as a slightly detached, slightly reluctant insider. Known for her understated demeanor and punchline-heavy writing, her act impresses audiences all over the country. She is a fixture on local stages in New England. She performs regularly at private shows and corporate functions thanks to her intelligent yet accessible material. Over the past two years, she was a finalist in Boston Comedy Festival, served as Comic in Residence at The Comedy Studio, featured at GildaFest and opened for Todd Barry.

Brett Johnson:

Brett is a stand-up and actor who lives in Boston. He hosts and produces Pavement Comedy Night, the Dudley Cafe open mic and Comedy at The Ellis Room. He cofounded the award-getting video team Brainfox and codirects The ASWS.

Please bring:

We recommend a notebook, pen, and recording device (usually your smartphone) to take notes on during class. There is an optional open mic at the beginning of class. Please bring or memorize your set list if you wish to participate.
