Event Details

The objective of the monthly Booth Energy Breakfast (BEN) is to meet University of Chicago Alumni in DC who share an interest in Energy and to explore opportunities to enhance the Energy network in the DC area. 

Join the breakfast and roundtable discussion. 

The event will be limited to 25 participants so please register only in the case you have the certainty that you will be attending.

The Booth Energy Network (BEN) is a global network for Booth alumni and non-Booth University of Chicago alumni that share an interest in the energy sector. BEN is continuing to grow through local chapters in cities across the world and has become a platform for the active sharing of insights as well as a tool to reinforce a network of professional contacts amongst the entire Booth and University of Chicago community. 

 

July meeting

Topic: "What does it take to start-up a successful energy company?"

Invited speakerLee Keshishian, Co-founder of Clean Currents, whose solar division was recently acquired by Solar City.  Lee is now heading Solar City for the Mid-Atlantic region

Lee brings extensive experience in managing and growing consumer oriented businesses in the manufacturing and residential construction fields.  He is currently the Director of Mid Atlantic Operations for SolarCity after their purchase of Clean Currents Solar in January 2011.  Lee is a co-founder and continued board member of Clean Currents, a leading renewable energy supplier in the deregulated Maryland and DC markets and winner of numerous awards from groups like Washington Business Journal, Washington DC’s DDOE and State of Maryland.  Prior work includes senior brand management, marketing and operations leadership positions globally with companies such as Reynolds Metals (ALCOA), Dial Corporation (Henkel), and Pulte Homes/Centex Homes.  In the homebuilding environment, he developed numerous communities including the first LEED community in the region.  In between consumer products and housing worlds, he was a director with start-up online company, boxerjam.com, which received venture funding from a group led by NEA and later sold to Media General.  Lee is a graduate of Georgetown University in International Relations with additional graduate studies at Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona.
