Event description

Description

*Registration will open in July*

The BooneDoggle Contra Dance will be an all-day dancing event in the Southern Appalachian Mountains on Saturday, September 30th. On-site accommodations will be available - consider staying til Sunday to experience some of the area's wonderful outdoor attractions (hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Virginia Creeper Trail, Appalachian Trail, numerous waterfalls and swimming holes, and the beautiful Watauga Lake, just to name a few).

Be a part of the Boone Country Dancer's second 12-hour contra dance! We will enjoy all-day dancing at the wonderful Appalachian Folk School (AFS), located at 3142 Divide Rd, Mountain City, TN. Dancing will start at 11 a.m. and end at 11 p.m., allowing you to dance all day if you so choose!

The hall will be filled with the music of Playing with Fyre (George Paul & Rob Zisette) and Nick Coker & Karen Gaughan. Callers will be the tallented Terry Doyle and Emily Rush. We are thrilled to have them all!

About the venue: The dance will be hosted at the Appalachian Folk School. The open air dance pavilion is accessed by walking through a historic red barn, and has all of the Appalachian charm that we love about our regular venue, the Apple Barn (if not more!). The hall can accommodate more dancers, has on-site overnight accommodations, and the open-air pavilion offers a cooler dancing environment. As a bonus, the neighbor's cows might come and watch us dance!
