ABOUT THE BOOK
From the authors of NPR Favorite Book of the Year 2019 Five Minutes (That’s a Lot of Time) (No, It’s Not) (Yes, It Is) comes THE WORLD’S BEST CLASS PLANT (Putnam; 9780525516354; $18.99; ages 3-7), an irresistible picture book about the joys of indoor gardening.
Arlo’s classroom doesn’t have a fun class pet, like a chinchilla or a cockatiel or a bearded dragon. Instead, his class has a plant.
And it doesn’t squeak or whistle or whimper—or do much of anything at all.
One day, Arlo decides to name the plant Jerry. Something about naming the plant makes it more exciting. As the class learns to take care of Jerry, he starts to grow . . . greener and longer and twistier. And before long it's clear that something amazing has taken root in Arlo's classroom.
THE WORLD’S BEST CLASS PLANT is the perfect book for all the plant parents looking to pass on their green thumbs to the next generation. This book shows that taking care of a plant can be a fun and rewarding experience for kids and can easily be incorporated into a daily routine. The book’s back matter even includes helpful information for every reader on how to select and raise a plant like Jerry of their own!
